FAQs
Is Denowatts a monitoring company?
Denowatts is not a traditional monitoring company. While some customers use Denowatts exclusively as a monitoring platform, most customers deploy Deno Core Technology to supplement their existing third-party or in-house monitoring platforms.
What if we already have a monitoring company?
Denowatts offers service tiers for customers who use other monitoring platforms, so they get the benefits of Denowatts Benchmarking and Energy Accounting services without paying twice for essential monitoring functions.
For sharing Deno data with another monitoring platform, see Data Server Setup.
How does Denowatts safeguard my data?
Denowatts considers your data to include Confidential information that is not shared with third parties. The complete Data Privacy, Terms of Service, and Terms of Use outline the contractual obligations of Denowatts and Users to safeguard data.
Is Denowatts technology secure?
Yes. Denowatts portal uses industry-recognized authentication protocols for data access, and maintains secure remote management tunnels for site data and remote management. A full specification of Denowatts Security Standard is available on request.
What is decentralized, user-managed monitoring?
Deno Core Technology is built for many use cases, including user-configurable operation. Trained and qualified users can establish data acquisition, configure energy models, and manage benchmarking tools. This decentralized approach means site owners can choose the providers they want to operate the monitoring platform, eliminating data lock-in and process bottlenecks in traditional centralized monitoring approaches.
What is Energy Accounting?
Energy Accounting is an emerging international standard for reporting performance based on the observed Operating Model. Energy Accounting is emerging from work led by the Sandia National Lab’s affiliated Photovoltaic O&M Analytics Collaborative (PVMAC) and global industry contributors. Energy Accounting is constructed around the GAPP (Generally Accepted Performance Principles) framework, analogous to Financial Accounting. Energy Accounting improves project reliability and predictability by addressing historic barriers between financiers, owners, and operators.
See the Energy Test introduction and Models & Benchmarks for how Denowatts applies it.
What does ISO 17025 Accreditation mean?
ISO 17025 is the world’s leading standard for the competence, impartiality, and consistent operation of testing and calibration laboratories. Accreditation means that Denowatts is audited annually for adherence to these standards, including proficiency testing by peers. Denowatts is an international leader in obtaining accredited scopes that impact solar performance management, including sensor calibration and capacity and energy testing to ASTM and IEC standards. ISO 17025 Accreditation is a commitment to excellence that system financiers, owners, and operators should demand in solar asset performance benchmarking and reporting.
See Calibration and Testing.
