Virtual Site Builder Configuration

The Deno DTB system relies on a carefully mapped energy model that generates equipment channels, test point details, and a geographically positioned system. During the Site Setup process, users set up the Energy Model, including all Blocks (MPPT subarrays) with modeled losses and manufacturer’s equipment data. The Energy Model documents the energy-transformation pipeline from photons-in to electrons-out. The Virtual Site Builder is a User Interface within the Deno Portal that maps the generating equipment data Channels to the Energy Model Blocks, to match the “digital” with the “physical” plant. Part of the VSB setup is defining test points for field measurements, such as plane-of-array irradiance, back-of-module temperature, and active power. The VSB is presented as a configurable object map, logically linking all Site equipment to ensure proper benchmarking. Finally, the VSB adds a geolocation layer within Google Maps to present the virtual site on the physical landscape.

In the Portal

The Virtual Site Builder is the Site Builder tab of a site. It is a canvas where Channels are dragged from a searchable sidebar onto equipment elements such as Horizontal and POA Benchmarks, Modules, Inverters, DC and AC Meters, Transformers, Batteries, Trackers, Reclosers, and the Grid. Elements are organized in Benchmark, Solar Block, Distribution, DC Storage, and AC Storage regions, with DC and AC coupling.

  • Blocks follow the Energy Model. When Blocks are added or removed in the current Energy Model version, select Sync to update the canvas. Each added Block is a Module and Inverter pair wired to the AC meter.
  • Test points are marked per Channel in an element’s edit window.
  • Use Deploy to apply the site map configuration, or Revert to discard changes.
