TBOM

How to properly install the Denowatts back-of-the-module temperature sensor (TBOM). This was previously covered at a top level in the POA Deno section; however, more details will be provided here.

The Tbom (Back-of-Module temperature) Sensor is critical in assuring an accurate benchmark.

Terminations

The Tbom sensor is labeled in the picture below

Please check that the Tbom wiring terminations correspond with the image of the Tbom terminals below.

Use the image above to replace an old Tbom on a Deno 4.2 or 4.3. If you are servicing a tbom on Deno models 4.0 and 4.1, use the image below.

Installation Steps

1. Locate Sensor

Locate the back of the module temperature sensor on the back of the solar module, approximately 24" from the frame.

  • Ensure that the sensor tip is located in the middle of a PV cell
  • Ensure that the sensor is not at the end of a row

2. Clean Mounting Location

Clean the Tbom location with the provided alcohol prep pad and completely dry it with a cloth.

3. Apply Dual Lock !! IMPORTANT !!

Separate the Dual-Lock and apply one side to the back of the panel, ensuring the entire surface is adhered to the module.

****It is imperative that one side of the dual lock is applied to the module first; If the Dual-Lock is mated together, separate the two sides before applying to the module. Do not apply the entire fixture at once; it will not adhere properly****

4. Fasten Tbom

Fasten the Tbom mechanism using the dual-lock mating piece that was just attached to the panel in step 3.

5. Wire Management

Tidy up any remaining cable with zip ties and wire clips, keeping the wire away from sharp edges, moving tracker parts, and DC homerun cables.

6. Pictures

Please document the entire installation with several photos

Example Install Pictures

The graphic below shows that the Tbom is mounted at least 1 module from the end of the row and 24" away from the module frame.

Below are images of examples of Tbom installations. The sensor tip is correctly located in the middle of a PV cell, the wire goes around the sensor in a horseshoe shape, and the cables are appropriately managed.
